The Science
Theobromine and caffeine are both methylxanthines, a group of naturally occurring compounds with stimulant properties. They exert their physiologic influence by interacting with adenosine receptors in the body. This interaction can lead to increased alertness, improved mood, and enhanced cognitive function.
When you consume caffeine, it's rapidly metabolized by your body into a range of stimulating compounds. One of these metabolites is Theobromine. While caffeine delivers a quick jolt followed by a sharp decline, Theobromine offers a smoother, more sustained energy release, lasting up to twice as long. This is because Theobromine interacts with your nervous system differently than caffeine, offering prolonged central nervous system stimulation. It also has a more favorable pharmacologic profile with a physiologic half-life almost twice as long as caffeine’s.
The key to sustained energy and focus isn't caffeine, it’s Theobromine. However, a surprisingly small fraction, only about 10%, of ingested caffeine is converted to Theobromine. The remaining 90% of metabolites contribute to the familiar 'rush and crash' cycle.
To bypass the inefficient caffeine conversion process in our bodies and directly access the sustained energy source that comes from Theobromine, we have developed TheoBrew. By focusing on Theobromine, we've unlocked a naturally longer-lasting, more productive energy experience.
